Zullo Feeling Better Than Ever

After succumbing to a quad injury in September, Sydney FC full-back Michael Zullo is confident the recovery has been a big success as he returns to training for Sydney FC.

Zullo last played in the Sky Blues’ pre-season win over Western United in Ballarat but wants to assure fans he is back and is feeling better than before.

“I’m feeling really good about it and definitely feeling better from what I was before the injury.

“I trained fully with the team on Friday and I’m hoping to get in a full week of training this week and maybe get a spot back in the side for the #BigBlue,” he said.

“It was an injury to my left-quad, so it was pretty important to my game as a left-footer.

“It’s been like another pre-season in these 4-5 weeks. There’s been a lot of hard training one-on-one with the physio, which will hopefully set me up for the rest of the season.”

Zullo is hopeful he can be picked in the side for this weekend but praised the Sky Blues’ performances so far this season.

“It’s all up to [Head Coach] Steve [Corica] to see who he wants to choose because I’ve got to earn my spot back in the team,” Zullo said.

“[Paulo] Retre and Joel King have been filling the spot really well. They’re both great players in their own way.

“The whole team have been playing some really good football and getting some good results.”

Looking forward to the clash, Zullo says he enjoys the atmosphere the #BigBlue creates for the players and is eager to see how the game plays out.

“It’s a massive game for us, for them and the two sets of fans.

“As players, it’s one of the best games to play in and I think they’ll come out firing so we just need to play our game to build our momentum to set up the rest of the season,” he added.

Sydney FC return to Netstrata Jubilee Stadium in a #BigBlue double-header on Sunday 17 November (W-League kick off 4pm AEDT, A-League kick off 6:30pm AEDT).
