Sydney FC’s Foxtel National Youth League squad enjoyed a comfortable 3-0 win over Canberra United in their Round 6 clash at Lambert Park on Friday night.

In a dominant first half performance Sydney FC went to the sheds leading 2-0 following a brace from midfielder Chris Zuvela.

His first goal was a 35 metre belter which rifled into the top corner of the net while his second was a deft finish inside the post following god lead up work from Patrick Flottmann.

Sydney FC could have extended their lead further with good chances falling to Jeremy Cox, Sam McIllhatton and Hassan Jalloh however they were denied by some good keeping from the Canberra United custodian.

Zuvela nearly completed his hattrick early in the second half when the Sky Blues were awarded a penalty but his effort was hit at a good height for the United keeper to palm away to safety.

Sydney FC threatened to score more goals as they controlled the pace of the game leaving Canberra United to resort to long diagonal passes to no avail.

The third goal eventually came late in the match when William Mutch broke down the right flank and crossed into the penalty area for Jalloh to hit a first time shot low into the back of the net.

The win sees Sydney FC move into second spot on the ladder with a game in hand.

Their next fixture is an away clash against Newcastle Jets on Sunday, 7th January.

Sydney FC 3 (Zuvela 2; Jalloh 1) defeated Canberra United 0
