Young gun Ryall re-signs with Sky Blues

Hyundai A-League 2010 Champions Sydney FC has retained the services of one of Australia’s premier footballing talents with 21-year-old defender Sebastian Ryall re-signing with the Sky Blues for a further two seasons.

Hyundai A-League 2010 Champions Sydney FC has retained the services of one of Australia-s premier footballing talents with 21-year-old defender Sebastian Ryall re-signing with the Sky Blues for a further two seasons.

A dual A-League Champion by the age of 20, the West Pymble junior has committed to the Sky Blues until at least the end of the 2012/13 season.

The re-signing of the Young Socceroos representative comes fresh on the heels of Sydney FC-s retention of strikers Alex Brosque and Mark Bridge and the signing of Nicky Carle, Liam Reddy, Scott Jamieson and 16-year-old Terry Antonis – all fellow Sydney juniors.

“I am really happy to have my future sorted and that it is with Sydney FC,” Ryall said. “The club has been great to me since I returned home in 2009. It is a very special time here at the moment and I want to be part of that and the club wanted me to be part of it to so I am really happy.”

“We have a great squad, great coaches and support staff and I have my family and friends with me every day which helps a lot.

“I am focused on playing the best possible football I can for Sydney FC and hopefully we can get to the levels we did last season. The A-League is a really tough competition and it tests you each and every week and I relish that.”

Ryall spent a year at both the New South Wales Institute of Sport and the AIS between 2005 and 2007 before joining the Melbourne Victory and going onto make his Hyundai A-League debut in round three against Adelaide at Hindmarsh Stadium on Saturday 7 September.

After winning the 2008/09 A-League title with Melbourne Victory, Ryall returned to Sydney and made it back-to-back championships, playing a starring role in the Sky Blues Grand Final triumph over the Victory at Etihad Stadium on Saturday 20 March 2010.

Ryall has also been a regular on junior Australian teams, having earned 16 caps for the U20 National team and is widely tipped to be a key member of the national program in the near future.

“The re-signing of Sebastian is excellent news for Sydney FC. He is a Sydney junior, young, extremely talented and professional. All things that our club looks for in its players,” Vice-Chairman Scott Barlow said.

“We have secured an outstanding core of young players in the last few months and we believe they will continue to keep Sydney FC at the forefront of football in the region.

“We also expect to announce further play re-signings in the coming weeks, bolstering our already impressive roster.”
