New Sydney FC signing Yairo Yau believes the pace he can add to Sydney FC will be the catalyst the club needs to win a third A-League title.

The Panamanian international completed his first training session with his new Sky Blues- team-mates today and told waiting media he had come to Sydney for one thing.

“I have signed to win a championship and to help the team win a championship,” he declared [through an interpreter].

“I want to be one of the most important players in the team and I already feel at home with all of the players.”

The 22 year old striker arrived in Australia last week on a season loan from Panamanian club Sporting San Miguelito and wants to make a big impact.

“I hope I can change the game here, score goals and make a difference in the speed of the game. I-m very dynamic and want to provide that killer pass as well,” he said.

Sydney FC coach Ian Crook was very happy with what he saw from his newest recruit on his first day, but isn-t putting too much pressure on him.

[Journalist question: What are your expectations, Ian?]
“That he scores 30 and we win the league by ten points, but apart from that nothing really!!

“No, I have my own expectations and I-ll drive towards them. I-m not a big believer in going out and saying we-re going to do this and that.

“We have a belief in something we want to achieve and if we achieve that at the end of the year then I-ll be happy,” said Crook.

However the Sydney FC Head Coach also believes the front-man will bring in the crowds.

“He-s got pace which is something we desperately felt we needed in that front third and I think he-ll be exciting.

“We need to be able to keep possession and that is going to be the key for us. I don-t want it to become an end to end game like a basketball game,” he continued.

“I want us to be able to try and control possession and if we can do that then we will give ourselves a chance, if we don-t then we-ll struggle.”
