‘Where Are They Now’ – Benito Carbone

In our ‘Where Are They Now’ series we’ll be taking a look back at some of our past players and hearing from them as they provide an update on what they’re up to these days.

This week, we heard from former Sky Blue striker Benito Carbone, as he hosted a special live Facebook chat on Tuesday night.

Carbone joined the Sky Blues in 2006 on a four-game guest stint, and while his time in the Harbour City was short, he immediately endeared himself to the Members and fans with his passion and flair.

Two assists and a goal on debut away against Adelaide United in a 4-1 win saw him hit the ground running, and he’d impress up front in the three matches he featured in, scoring again against the Mariners away before a cruel hamstring injury cut his time with Sydney FC short.

Carbone still harbours plenty of passion for the Sky Blues, following the club online and routinely engaging with their content, and even expressed his disappointment in that injury that ended his time with the Sky Blues in a 2014 interview.

Hear from Benito Carbone:

“It was incredible [being in Sydney]. The fans treat me like if I’d played with the club for a long time.

“When I left Sydney FC I was crying. I cried because it was a fantastic time for me there.”
