Sydney FC goalkeeper Vedran Janjetovic has his sights set on finals football this season as the Sky Blues prepare to host the Central Coast Mariners at Allianz Stadium on Saturday (kick off 7:45pm).

With the Sky Blues sitting in seventh position Janjetovic says that while they must win tomorrow night, he is treating the match like any other.

“There is every chance we could do something special this season, as long as we can stay in that top 6,” Janjetovic said.

“Come finals it-s a game by game situation so anything can happen.

“Saturday is going to be a massive game for us,” he continued.

“We need to win to get back into the top 6 and they also need to win. We-re going to do whatever we can to win but you have to treat every game the same. It doesn-t matter who is in front of you, you treat it the same week in week out so that-s exactly what we-re going to do.”

Janjetovic, who has just resigned with Sydney FC for two years, was pleased to have secured his future at the club and is aiming to build on his string of outstanding recent performances in the seasons ahead.

“In a sense I-m relieved [about resigning],” he said.

“The boys are fantastic, the atmosphere is great and the coaching staff are phenomenal. It-s another two years and another learning curve for myself.

“The player I was two years ago is nowhere near the player I am now so I-ve still got a lot to improve on. I-m going to take these next two years as a challenge and see how far I can better myself.

“Hopefully there is a championship somewhere in there as well.”

Vedran Janjetovic’s match worn jersey is up for auction after being voted Beechwood Man of the Match against Melbourne Heart and Brisbane Roar. This jersey is not available for retail, so don’t miss out owning this limited edition shirt, bid online here
