Underground Carpark Set For New Stadium

Sydney FC’s brand new, state of the art stadium at Moore Park will feature a new underground carpark and village precinct under new government proposals (see image below).

Parking will be moved off the grass next to Kippax Lake, creating more space for the community and stadium visitors at the new facility, which will sit adjacent to the SFS redevelopment.

The ‘Upper Kippax’ area will be transformed into a green, with a central sports field, shaded walkways and picnic amenities, under proposals from the Minister of Planning and Public Spaces, Rob Stokes.

“We’ve seen how important green open space is to people during the pandemic and at Moore Park alone, there has been a 20 per cent increase in patronage in the last 12 months,” Mr Stokes said.

“Increasing and improving public space such as Moore Park is part of the NSW Government’s vision to create a city within a park.”

As well as a children’s play area and a new café and restaurant, the development will also include a new partially underground 1500-vehicle car park.

Sydney FC Chief Executive Danny Townsend said: “This is a real win for Sydney FC Members and all our fans who will join us at our new world-class stadium.

“It not only provides car-parking for our Members who wish to use it, but it will also be a fantastic setting for fans who want to relax in an open green space before and after our games.”

The precinct project, which will be funded by Venues NSW, will be delivered in two stages, with the first stage to be operational by the end of next year. The second stage will be complete in 2023.

Once the car park is fully operational, all remaining on-grass parking will be removed from Moore Park.

Current Sydney FC 2021-22 Members will get first choice of seating at the new stadium once sales begin early next year.
