Thursday Will Be A Challenge – Arnold

While it’s a short turnaround from Saturday to Thursday, Sydney FC Head Coach Graham Arnold has promised the fans that they Sky Blues will do everything in their power to preserve their unbeaten record this round.

Sydney FC take on the top of the table Perth Glory at Allianz Stadium on Thursday night (kick off 7:30pm) and Arnold believes the Sky Blues face a tough task to equal their club record nine match unbeaten streak set between 2006 and 2007.

“It’s going to be a huge challenge for us playing the league leaders at Allianz on Thursday night,” he said.

“I’m appealing to all the Sydney FC supporters, I know it’s a Thursday night game and I hope they know it’s a Thursday night game, that they get there in their numbers and support the boys.

“Perth are a very good side, Kenny Lowe is doing a fantastic job. When you watch them play you can see they’ve got a lot of confidence,” he continued.

“They’ve got experienced players, they’ve got a very good side. They’re going to be a tough challenge but we’re in good form.

“We’re at home and we’ll do our best to keep an unbeaten record and I’m sure we’ll put in a good performance.”

With injuries to key duo Ali Abbas and Corey Gameiro ruling the pair out for the remainder of this season, Arnold confirmed that he’d explore the option of a signing when the international transfer window opens in January.

“We’ve only got three foreigners so we’ve got two spaces still available,” Arnold said.

“With Corey and Ali being out long term we do have the opportunity to bring in a couple of foreign international replacement players but I think we’ll have to wait until January.

“I was on the phone last night to quite a few agents who have contacts in Europe and we’re looking at maybe getting some players when the transfer window opens in January.”
