Summer Football is here as the Hyundai A-League celebrates a massive 12 days of Christmas.

Football Federation Australia (FFA) CEO David Gallop and stars of the Hyundai A-League today helped launch the Summer Football campaign to open the 2012/13 season-s packed Christmas schedule.

In what will be a massive 12 days of Christmas the Hyundai A-League will play 15 matches between this Friday, 21 December to New Years Day, 1 January.

Festivities will kick off this weekend when Western Sydney Wanderers play Adelaide United to open the Summer Football period before Perth Glory head to Brisbane for a Grand Final rematch of last season-s showpiece closer. The opening weekend wraps with arguably the biggest derby in Australian football when Melbourne Heart host Melbourne Victory at AAMI Park on Sunday, 22 December.

“The Hyundai A-League Summer Football period is the time for Australians on holiday to catch up with family and friends and take in some exciting A-league action,” said FFA CEO David Gallop.

“There are some fantastic matches during this period including the Melbourne Derby, the Boxing Day match in Adelaide, and New Years Eve and New Years Day matches that are always well attended and a fantastic opportunity for families and fans to welcome in 2013.

“I look forward to some hugely enjoyable matches and to help celebrate this fantastic Summer Football period.”

Fans are urged to get in on the social banter at the Summer Football Fanzone (http://fanzone.footballaustralia.com.au),where fans can interact with content and conversations from the Hyundai A-League, Clubs, players and other football fans.

FFA has partnered with Stackla (Stackla.com) the social media aggregation platform to help create the Summer Football conversation.

Players, Clubs, fans and media are encouraged to use the hash-tag #SummerFootball when tweeting about anything from grass-roots through to the Hyundai A-League.

Sydney FC’s next home game should be a Christmas Cracker. Another derby against local rivals Central Coast Mariners over the holiday period on December 27th. Get your tickets now from Ticketek and enjoy some sizzling A-League Summer Football!!!
