Talay was a member of Sydney FC-s inaugural squad that won the 2005/06 Hyundai A-League Grand Final.
Following a distinguished domestic career in Australia and abroad including stints at Marconi, Galatasaray and Sydney FC, Talay finished his career in the Hyundai A-League at the end of the 2010/11 season before stepping into coaching.
Working alongside AIS Senior Coach Tony Vidmar, the former Sydney FC and North Queensland Fury midfielder was given the position after impressing during the recent A-License course.
“Ufuk stood out at the recent A-licence course and it-s great to have another former top level player teaching the new generation,” said FFA Technical Director Han Berger. “He has a solid foundation in the game and apart from a strong playing background is also astute in his understanding of the game at a technical level.”
