Sydney set to silence the Jets

With the Westfield W-League boasting ladder as tight as Santa-s belt – Sydney FC would thoroughly enjoy getting three much-needed points as an early Christmas present this weekend when it faces-off against the Newcastle Jets.

Despite falling to a narrow one-goal defeat last Saturday against a youthful Perth Glory outfit, the disappointed Sky Blues found plenty of positives as they turned their attention to Saturday-s clash.

After sharing the honours with the Jets the last time the sides met, last week-s player of the match, Servet Uzunlar said Sydney needs to capitalise on its early chances.

“If we can make sure we-re disciplined and well organised in defence and take some care in the front third, the rest should take care of itself,” she explained.

This is an important game for her side, which sits just outside the top-four and has been battling a high injury count over the last few rounds of the competition.

Uzunlar believes Sydney was unlucky in its first match against the well-organised Newcastle side, but is confident this-week-s preparations will ensure all her team-mates will be ready for the task ahead.

“We know that they have some key players that can be a real threat so just being aware of that and keeping a solid defence will help,” she said.

The Round-9 match will be broadcast live on the ABC but if you-d rather enjoy all the action and atmosphere in person then entry to the match will be free of charge at Campbelltown Stadium, so come cheer on Sydney from 4pm on Saturday.
