Sydney FC is blessed with a dedicated Membership base with fans generating tremendous atmosphere at the Sydney Football Stadium but one fan can surely lay claim to being the most dedicated and devoted.

William Duran, or “Dogga” to his Cove Friends, has renewed his membership for the 2011/12 season, something he has done since Sydney FC launched in the 2005/06 season.

Dogga-s devotion to the club is far from a solo effort but what makes him remarkable and truly devoted is he has been continuing his passionate support despite fighting cancer since midway through 2010.

Dogga has been fighting colon cancer, which has now spread to his liver and lungs but that hasn-t deterred him from Becoming a Citizen and renewing his membership for the 2011/12 season.

“I will always support Sydney FC,” he said. “I couldn-t imagine life without supporting Sydney FC and it-s important for me to feel part of the club.

“I can-t yell and scream my lungs out like I used to but just going to the game is my way of continuing to support the team.

“I have made better friends in the last six years than the rest of my life in football.”

Dogga has also made plans to travel to Melbourne to watch Sydney FC take on Melbourne Heart in Round 4 of the 2011/12 season so he can add AAMI Park to his list of “away trips”, having already attended games in Perth, Adelaide, Newcastle, Gosford, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Townsville, Wellington and Etihad Stadium in Melbourne.

“Last year I went to three or four games as I was undergoing treatment. This season I want to go to all of the home games and I want to go to AAMI Park because I haven-t been there yet.”
