Sydney FC’s Demolition Moves Them Five Clear

Sydney FC’s young Westfield W-League squad have moved five points clear at the top of the ladder after defeating Perth Glory 6-2.

Moments That Mattered:

  1. SIEMSEN GOAL – 43’ – Siemsen fires a perfect left foot shot into the bottom corner from the edge of the box to put the Sky Blues ahead.
  2. IBINI GOAL – 48’ – Ibini brings the ball down and cuts inside shooting into the roof of the net for a superb solo goal.
  3. SIEMSEN GOAL – 53’ – Lowe feeds a ball beyond the back line for Siemsen who hits it too quickly for the keeper to make it 3-0.
  4. WHEELER GOAL – 61’ – Green’s cross is finished by Wheeler at the far post to make it four.
  5. LOWRY GOAL – 63’ – A low strike pulls one back for Perth
  6. LOWRY GOAL – 65’ – Lowry makes it two in two minutes converting a cut back.
  7. WHEELER GOAL – 72’ – Wheeler weaves her way into the box from the left before blasting into the far side.
  8. SYDNEY FC PENALTY – 86’ – Ibini is brought down in the box and Wheeler has the chance for a hat-trick but her penalty is saved.
  9. IBINI GOAL – 95’ – Ibini shoots and sees her effort deflected beyond the keeper to finish the rout.

 Sydney FC have consolidated their lead at the top of the Westfield W-League with a 6-2 win over Perth Glory in Western Australia.

In their second midweek travel engagement in the space of three weeks the Sky Blues moved closer to their first Premiership in ten years.

The young side took the lead in the first half through Remy Siemsen, before Ibini and Siemsen again put the Sky Blues 3-0 up early in the second half.

The excellent Clare Wheeler hit the fourth on the hour before Lowry struck twice to reduce the deficit for Perth.

But Wheeler was on hand again to add a fifth in the 72nd minute with a superb effort.

The young Future Matilda almost secured a hat-trick but her penalty was saved, however Ibini secured the rout with her second of the game to make the final score 6-2.

Sydney FC have three games remaining and a five point lead at the top of the W-League.
