Sydney FC undergo twin recovery sessions in Jesolo

The Sydney FC squad was thrust straight into business in Jesolo today with two recovery sessions to prepare the squad for a hectic three-week six-match tour, combining quality matches with tough pre season training to ensure the Sky Blues are ready and firing for round one of the 2013/14 Hyundai A-League.

The Sydney FC squad was thrust straight into business in Jesolo today with two recovery sessions to prepare the squad for a hectic three-week six-match tour, combining quality matches with tough pre season training to ensure the Sky Blues are ready and firing for round one of the 2013/14 Hyundai A-League.

The squad was put through a structured 9am recovery work out involving stretching and a pool session, less than 12 hours after touching down in Italy.

Later in the day the players stepped up a gear with another recovery session, this time combining an active session with some core stability.

“We have come to Italy for what will be an intensive three-week camp with six matches so today was all about making sure the players recovered from the flight so they are ready to go tomorrow morning,” said Sydney FC strength and conditioning coach Anthony Crea.

“We put the players through a stretching and pool recovery session in the morning to stretch their legs and get the engines moving and in the afternoon we stepped it up a little and got them with a ball at their feet, although the primary focus for the afternoon session was also ensuring the players were recovered and ready for tomorrow.

“It was a long flight and we are going to work very hard in Jesolo and we got a taste of the hot temperatures today but the boys handled it well and they look ready to get into training tomorrow (Sunday).

Sydney FC will start it double training schedule program on Sunday with 1000 fans expected to at the team-s training session at the Stadio Comunale Picchi in Jesolo.

Sydney FC kicks off its match schedule against Padova, Alessandro Del Piero-s first professional club, in Padova on 7 August before taking on Udinese (8 Aug), Vicenza Calcio (Aug 13), A.S. Cittadella (Aug 14), Venezia (Aug 17) and Reggiana (Aug 21).
