Sydney FC stars Brett Emerton, Michael Beauchamp and Terry McFlynn rubbed shoulders with Australia-s most respected men on Tuesday night at the GQ Man of the Year Awards, held at the Sydney Opera House.

The trio were joined by Board Members Paul Ramsay AO and Scott Barlow, CEO Dirk Melton and Coach Vitezslav Lavicka at the glittering event, which saw GQ Magazine hand out its annual awards, at an event widely regarded as one of the most prestigious on the Sydney calendar.

Emerton was also bestowed with the honour of presenting an award on stage, giving swimmer James Magnussen the “Breakthrough of the Year” Award.

And after a long spell playing overseas it was his first visit to the world famous Opera House in many years.

“The last time I was here was probably when I was about 15 years old,” said the Sydney FC midfielder.

“Obviouslyit’s pouring down with rain outside but I’m not sure it’ll spoil the night.

“Fantastic to be here and what better place to be than at the Opera House and the GQ Man Of The Year Awards.”

Sydney’s CEO Dirk Melton commented, “It’s a wonderful night, we’re very excited to be here and it epitomises the direction that our club is heading.”

Sydney FC-s presence was part of a growing partnership between the Club and GQ Magazine with Emerton also featured in the latest edition of GQ Magazine, which hits the stores today.
