Sydney FC Sign Principal AFC Champions League Sponsor

Sydney FC have agreed a deal with major sponsor StarTrack to become the Sky Blues’ principal front of shirt sponsor for their 2016 AFC Champions League campaign.

The StarTrack logo will adorn Sydney FC’s new look AFC Champions League kit which will be produced by PUMA and revealed ahead of the competition starting in February 2016.

In becoming the Sky Blues principal AFC Champions League sponsor, StarTrack will be afforded branding on the front of the playing shirts and training kits.

StarTrack, Australia Post’s parcels business, provides customers with an unrivalled suite of ecommerce-driven logistics, supply chain and parcel delivery solutions for consumers, local and international businesses and online marketplaces. StarTrack draws on the Australia Post Group’s vast network with more than 11,000 vehicles, 500 facilities, 50 business hubs and more than 20,000 customer access points.  

Sydney FC Chief Executive Officer Tony Pignata is delighted StarTrack have decided to further their existing relationship with the club.

“StarTrack have been a fantastic supporter of Sydney FC and this new partnership will only go towards improving that relationship,” he said.

“We have had an excellent start to our Hyundai A–League campaign so far and we are very hopeful we can take that form into the AFC Champions League.

“Progress into the knock out stage of the competition is our initial goal and this will have huge benefits for both Sydney FC and StarTrack in terms of brand exposure in Asia.”

Executive General Manager of Parcel & eCommerce Services at Australia Post, Bob Black said: “We have only had positive dealings with Sydney FC through our StarTrack partnership so the chance to become a front of shirt sponsor for the AFC Champions League was an opportunity we couldn’t pass up.

“I’ve no doubt this will further cement our links with the club and enable StarTrack to increase its presence and brand across Australia and in Asia.”

The draw for the AFC Champions League will be made this Thursday evening at 7pm AEDT in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. 

The Sky Blues look set to be drawn against teams from Japan, Korea and China and will be represented at the draw by former captain Terry McFlynn.

Live updates from the draw will be made on Sydney FC’s Twitter, Instagram and Facebook accounts.  The first round of matches is set for the 23/24 February 2016.
