Paige Satchell Signs For Sydney FC

W-League Premiers Sydney FC have secured a major coup ahead of the new 2021-22 season by swooping for young New Zealand Olympic forward Paige Satchell.

The Kiwi International played in every game of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics for New Zealand and brings further international experience having spent a year with German top-flight club SC Sand during the 2019-20 season.

Satchell played a key role in helping Canberra United reach their first W-League semi-final appearance in four years last season and is thrilled to be joining the reigning Premiers.

“I’m excited for my new adventure with Sydney FC,” said the 23-year old.

“They are a really professional club and from an individual perspective I’m continuously looking to develop and push myself.

“I think being in the environment of Sydney FC and playing in such a strong and competitive league will definitely help me grow.

“I’m looking forward to playing some great football and hopefully getting some quality results.”

Head Coach Ante Juric said Satchell would bring an added dimension to the squad.

“Paige can definitely give us something different in the final third and can play up front or in a wide position.

“She has experience of playing at the Olympics and in a FIFA Women’s World Cup, so that is going to be vital for us.

“We are looking to challenge for trophies again and Paige is a great addition to the very competitive squad we are assembling.

“We can’t wait until we get the season going.”

Satchell is likely to arrive in Australia in mid-September to begin training with the Sky Blues.
