Moments That Mattered:

  1. Foord Chance – 1’ – Caitlin Foord skips beyond four players and into the box only seconds after kick off, before seeing a low effort smothered on the angle.
  2. Polias Attempts The Chip – 28’ – Captain Teresa Polias spots the goalkeeper off her line and looks for the chip, forcing Coelho to track back and tip the ball over the bar.
  3. Siemsen Opens The Scoring – 31’ – Angelique Hristodoulou lifts a fantastic ball into the box from the right, with Remy Siemsen leaping highest to steer the header home.
  4. Siemsen Fires Just Wide – 44’ – Remy Siemsen is played into the area on the left but she drags her shot wide under pressure with only Coelho to beat.
  5. Siemsen Bags Her Brace – 50’ – Remy Siemsen bags her second goal of the game, claiming a wayward pass from Jets’ goalkeeper Claire Coelho to calmly sidefoot home from close range.
  6. Kennedy Goes Close – 59’ – Alanna Kennedy forces Coelho into a sharp save, sending a dipping free kick up and over the wall.
  7. Bledsoe Saves – 75’ – Aubrey Bledsoe is called into action for the first time, diving low to her left to deny Brewer from range.
  8. Foord Shoots At Goal – 79’ – Caitlin Foord pounces on loose ball in the box, turns and shoots, forcing Coelho to react and palm away.
  9. Bledsoe Saves Again – 83’ – Aubrey Bledsoe does well to tip over a powerful effort from Wheeler.
  10. Logarzo Blazes Over – 86’ – Chloe Logarzo goes close to adding a third late on, but scoops her effort high over the bar when played clear through on goal.

The Sky Blues dictated the play from the outset, with Caitlin Foord causing problems only 40 seconds in as she worked her way into a shooting position inside the box before being crowded out.

Teresa Polias next tested Claire Coelho with a chipped effort after a period of sustained pressure, before Remy Siemsen opened the scoring on the half hour mark, heading home a fantastic cross from Angelique Hristodoulou.

Sydney FC opened the second half in much the same vein and were rewarded 50 minutes in as Remy Siemsen capitalised on a wayward pass from the Jets’ goalkeeper to calmly sidefoot home from point blank range.

There was no let up in the Sky Blues’ advances as Alanna Kennedy and Caitlin Foord both went close before Aubrey Bledsoe ensured the points would return to Sydney with a pair of great saves late in the game, to deny Hannah Brewer and Clare Wheeler.

Pleasing for Sydney FC were the returns of Veronica Latsko and Amy Sayer from injury, while the win moves Head Coach Ante Juric’s squad up to second on the ladder, one point behind leaders Melbourne City.

Sydney FC are next in Westfield W-League action in the #SydneyDerby at Bankwest Stadium on Friday 20 December (kick off 5pm AEDT).
