Hyundai A-League Champions Sydney FC will be presented with the Premiers Plate on Tuesday night, if they secure the required one point they need to be crowned Premiers against Newcastle Jets.

The Sky Blues sit on top of the Hyundai A-League ladder on 51 points, with 3rd placed Wellington Phoenix the only team who can equal that mark.

Sydney FC Head Coach Steve Corica believes the players deserve to lift the trophy at their home ground.

“We’ve got a fantastic record at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium and I think it would be ideal to be able to lift the trophy at our home ground and in front of our Members, if we can get the required result.

“We are not there yet but we are confident we can wrap up the title on Tuesday night and the boys can enjoy it with a couple of days off, before our next game ten days later.

“We still have our own targets to hit this season however, so the hard work doesn’t stop.

“We want to achieve those and ensure we are accelerating into the Finals Series.”

Sydney FC will become the first club in Hyundai A-League history to win the Premiers Plate four times once they secure the required points.

The Sky Blues could also become the first club to notch five Hyundai A-League Championships with a second successive Grand Final win this season.

It will also be the third time in four years that the club will have won the accolade.

Sydney FC Members will be on hand to witness the celebrations should the Sky Blues secure at least a draw, and can apply to attend via the barcodes emailed to them earlier this week.

The Sky Blues will presented with the trophy at the club’s next home game should they not gain the required points on Tuesday night.
