The players attended a briefing yesterday and hit the road tonight (Tuesday) as the club looks to continue its engagement with the Sydney Football Community with 35 visits to football clubs, Community Events and Gala Days over the first two weeks.
From Waverley to Merrylands, Avalon to Wollongong, Sydney FC players will be engaging with junior football players by helping out with coaching and taking time to sign autographs.
Sydney FC players will also be attending the Football NSW Skills Acquisition Program (SAP) Gala Day at Valentine Sports Park (Glenwood) on Saturday 8 June as the best young players (aged 9, 10 and 11) come together for a day-long festival of football.
“Getting the players out to junior football clubs is an important part of the Sydney FC Community engagement program,” said Sydney FC CEO Tony Pignata. “We should never underestimate the power of junior football players meeting their idols and the impact it can have on their lives.
“Over the next month the players will spend a lot of time engaging with the kids and attending Community Events before they get heavily involved in pre season training.
“Last season Sydney FC had its highest ever membership and average crowd numbers and we must ensure we continue to engage with the community for the upward trend to continue into the 2013/14 Hyundai A-League season.”
