Sydney FC members the Joannidis family got an early evening surprise this week, when striker Dimi Petratos popped in to say thank-you for their support.
Sydney FC members the Joannidis family got an early evening surprise this week, when striker Dimi Petratos popped in to say thank-you for their support.
The family, who have been supporters since season one, were delighted to welcome the 19 year old into their Rozelle home.
“I was really surprised. It-s really great he came. I wasn-t expecting it,” said dad of the family, Stephen.
“I-ve been following him being Greek and he-s a Greek boy. He-s done really well and I-ve seen him score some great goals. I can see a real future for him,” he continued.
Stephen, his wife Anastasia and two daughters Stefanie and Ellysia became hooked after watching Sydney FC win the first A-League title in 2005-06.
They were quick to renew their memberships this year, with Stephen becoming the 500th member within a few hours of them going on sale.
“I didn-t have to hesitate, I want to support the club,” said Stephen. “We-ve got some new junior members joining our family and we wanted to be sure we got the right seats.
“It-s a great venue and you-ve got a great atmosphere with The Cove to the left of me and the supporters of the other team to the right. Where we are sitting, it-s fantastic.”
Nineteen year old Petratos was happy to welcome the family on board for this season.
“All the members are important, it-s very important they come to all of the games and support the team. It gives the team an extra boost for the game. I-m feeling very confident for this year,” he said.
