Sydney FC have pulled off a coup by announcing former EPL Executive Chairman Richard Scudamore as the guest speaker for their Sydney FC In Business Lunch 2020.

Scudamore is the man behind the phenomenal global commercial success of English Premier League, having overseen an increase in revenues from £148 million in 1997 to its current £3.2 billion.

During his 19 years in charge, the EPL also became the most watched league in the world.

Scudamore, who was recently appointed Special Advisor to the Hyundai A-League, will speak at the Sydney FC In Business Lunch 2020 in February at The Star Sydney. It is his first speaking engagement in Sydney.

Sydney FC Chief Executive Officer Danny Townsend expects the event will be filled with business leaders keen to learn from Scudamore’s experiences.

“Richard Scudamore is a football man through and through, and his success with the English Premier League cannot be underestimated,” he said.

“It will be fascinating to hear from him and get an insight into what made that league the global powerhouse it now is, and what can be done with the Hyundai A-League as we move into independence.

“His Q&A at our Business Lunch is not to be missed, and I look forward to seeing a sold out venue in February.”

Scudamore’s current involvement with the Hyundai A-League sees him provide strategic counsel as the league transitions into commercial independence and enters a new era for the game in this country.

He was also most recently chair of the World Leagues Forum, the organisation representing professional leagues on a world level.
