Sydney FC kicks off Pre-Season Cup campaign with win

Sydney FC has staged a second half fight back to win its opening game of the Hyundai A-League Pre-Season cup in front of a vocal crowd at the Campbelltown Sports Stadium.

The sky blues lined up against the Queensland Roar and were forced to work hard just to stay in the game in the opening half.

Dutchman, Serginho Van Dijk looked dangerous throughout the first period, and gave the visitors the lead shortly after the start of the second, but Sydney responded quickly, with teenager, Chris Payne positioning himself perfectly to equalise five minutes later.

In the 57th minute Queensland was reduced to ten men when Hyuk-Su Seo was sent off for bringing Alex Brosque down on the edge of the area, and Mitchell Prentice scored what would be the winner from the free kick, blasting the dead ball opportunity into the back of the net.
