Sydney FC has again been well represented in the latest national team squad announced today by new Young Socceroos Head Coach Gary van Egmond.

Number 10 Marco Tilio, left back Thomas Fay (main picture) and right back Callum Talbot have been selected in Van Egmond’s 30 player training camp at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra from Sunday, 28 July 2019 to Friday, 2 August 2019.

“It’s another remarkable achievement from three lads who have come through our Academy and have a very bright future in the game,” said Sydney FC Technical Director – Youth, Kelly Cross.

“These boys have all been with us for four years, since we started our Academy.”

“It shows the strength of our entire Academy and what we have put in place to be having boys selected at all levels for national teams.”

The call-ups follow the selection of five players for the each of the U17s and U15s Joeys squads in recent days.

At the completion of the camp in Canberra, van Egmond will confirm his 23-player roster for Australia’s participation at the 2019 AFF U-18 Championship in Vietnam.

The 2019 AFF U-18 Championship will be held in Ho Chi Minh City from August 6 to 19.

The Young Socceroos will play Cambodia, hosts Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore in Group B of the competition, with Myanmar, Indonesia, Laos, Timor-Leste, Philippines, and Brunei Darussalam contesting Group A.

The Semi Finals of the AFF U-18 Championship will be held in Binh Duong on August 17, with the Final to be played in Thong Nhat on August 19.

“The next month represents an exciting opportunity for all the players that have been selected,” van Egmond said. “Our camp in Canberra combined with the 2019 AFF U-18 Championship in Vietnam represents the start of our process to qualify for the FIFA U-20 World Cup in 2021.”
