Sydney FC Defender Aaron Calver To Leave The Club

Sydney FC defender Aaron Calver is set to leave the club at the end of the season.

The 23-year old is seeking regular first team football and believes he is better placed to achieve this elsewhere.

“Aaron wants guaranteed game time and that is not something we are prepared to offer at Sydney FC,” said Head Coach Steve Corica.

“We have a lot of competition for places in Aaron’s position and it is unfortunate that he hasn’t been able to break through.

“He has been with us for a long time and is a Sydney FC supporter so we know he will give his best for the club for the remainder of his time here.”

The central defender will join up with new Hyundai A-League franchise Western United from next season.

“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time playing for Sydney FC but I feel the offer of regular first team football at Western United is something I need to take,” said Calver.

“I’ve had a fantastic journey at Sydney FC and learned an enormous amount.

“I look forward to finishing off the season on a high and claiming another Hyundai A-League Championship medal.”

Calver made his Hyundai A-League debut as 16-year old against Adelaide United in 2012 and has made 44 A-League appearances for the club.
