Sydney FC has confirmed, today, the jersey numbers to be worn by the squad for the 2014/15 Hyundai A-League season.
Graham Arnold’s Sky Blues kick off the new season at home to the newly re-branded Melbourne City on October 11 at Allianz Stadium, which will see the club don their new-look home jerseys for the first time in the Hyundai A-League.
Record goal-scorer and Australian Marquee, Alex Brosque, will resume his duties in the same number he wore in his previous stint in Sydney, number 14, while Austrian captain and International Marquee Marc Janko will wear his lucky number, 21.
New signings, Bernie Ibini and New Zealand international Shane Smeltz, will wear numbers 11 and 9 respectively as they look to hit the back of the net this year at Allianz Stadium.
Youngsters Chris Naumoff and Alex Gersbach, who have earned spots in the senior squad for this season, will wear numbers 16 and 13 as they look to develop under the tutelage of Head Coach Graham Arnold and the senior players.
Aside from the new additions, a number of players have shifted numbers from the ones they wore during the 2013/14 Hyundai A-League season.
Corey Gameiro has transitioned from number 9 to number 7 and the move seems to be working already with the youngster sitting on seven goals from his five preseason matches, while Pedj Bojic, Sasa Ognenovski, Milos Dimitrijevic and Hagi Gligor have also changed digits and will wear numbers 4, 3, 8 and 12 respectively.
