Sydney FC Community Memberships A Hit

Sydney FC’s Hyundai A-League 2015/16 Membership campaign has received a notable stamp of approval from fans after the introduction of a new and unique Community Membership, designed to help young followers of the game join this country’s growing football family.

The brand new Community Membership is a result of the Sky Blues teaming up with our Charity Partner Football United and the hope is it will encourage many young people who would not usually be able to attend football matches to come to the games.

Upon renewal or registration, Sydney FC Members will be asked if they wish to purchase a Community Membership.  Sydney FC will charge $50 instead of the standard $70 for a Junior Membership and this Community Membership will be provided to someone under 17, chosen by Football United.

Sydney FC Chief Executive Officer Tony Pignata believes the initiative is a way for Members to assist underprivileged youths in becoming interested in football and being a part of the Sydney FC family.

“We pride ourselves on our involvement with our local community in Sydney and work tirelessly to engage with young people from all walks of life through our holiday clinics and our relationships with schools and the local football associations,” said Pignata.

“We hope this initiative will encourage more young people to become involved in football and also provide an avenue for those Members who want to help to grow the game.”

The Membership will enable recipients to come to all Sydney FC home games for no charge and receive the Membership pack and all the other benefits of a Junior Membership.

Assmaah Helal, who heads up Football United’s Creating Chances Program says the Membership will be of great benefit to many young people.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for our Football United youth. Many of our participants come from low socio-economic backgrounds and going to watch the Sky Blues play live is a rare but exciting experience.

“Football United is all about creating chances for youth to reach for their goals and to engage with the wider community. This initiative will assist with just that, enabling our youth to connect with the game and the Sydney FC community.”

It’s hoped the link up will further cement Sydney FC’s relationship with young people within the local community.
