For the second successive year Sydney FC has achieved record Membership numbers, ahead of the season’s kick off on Saturday against Melbourne City at Allianz Stadium (kick off 7:30pm).

The Sky Blues previous record of 10,841 was eclipsed on Friday with Sydney FC reaching 11,000 Members for the first time in the club’s history.

Added to those record breaking numbers the club has also enjoyed renewed support in its Junior Blues Membership program with over 7,000 children under 12 years of age signing up.

Sydney FC Chief Executive Officer Tony Pignata expressed delight at breaking the record for the second year in a row and believes that the Members and fans are in line for a bumper 2014/15 season.

“Our Members are the back bone of the club,” he said.

“It’s great to see so many renew their Membership and so many new faces sign up for the Hyundai A-League 2014/15 season. It’s fantastic to have their support once again and I look forward to seeing everyone at Allianz Stadium for our season opener this Saturday,” he continued.

“Head Coach Graham Arnold has built a formidable squad, as our preseason results have shown, and I believe that our Members and fans are in line for something special this season in what is the 10th anniversary of the competition.”

Sydney FC get their Hyundai A-League campaign underway against the newly re-branded Melbourne City at Allianz on Saturday 11 October (kick off 7:30pm) with Nikola Petkovic and Sasa Ognenovski set to go head to head against Spanish all-time leading goal scorer David Villa.
