Sydney FC and Jason Culina part ways

Sydney FC and Jason Culina have agreed to mutually terminate the Socceroo’s playing contract.

Sydney FC and Jason Culina have agreed to mutually terminate the Socceroo-s playing contract.

The decision has been made following a series of phone calls late today (Monday) between Sydney FC CEO Tony Pignata, Jason Culina and his management.

“Sydney FC has this afternoon agreed to mutually terminate the contract of Jason Culina,” said Sydney FC CEO Tony Pignata. “We would like to wish Jason the best of luck with the rest of his football career.”

Culina made eight appearances for the Sky Blues, scoring two goals and thanked Sydney FC for the opportunity to continue his football career.

“I would like to thank Sydney FC for assisting me with my rehabilitation and my return to football. I would like to thank the Board, management, coaching staff, players and especially physiotherapist Stan Ivancic. The circumstances surrounding my departure are unfortunate but I feel fit and strong and I am determined to continue my playing career in the future,” Culina said.

The Sky Blues will be looking for a fifth home win in a row when we take on fellow Finals contenders Adelaide United at Allianz Stadium this Saturday night (16th Feb). A win could give us breathing space over our Finals Series rivals, as the race gets down to the business end. We need every bit of support, so get buying your tickets from Ticketek and help the boys push for the Finals. Adults start from $25, kick off is 5.30pm.
