Sydney FC’s successful Academy Program has received another boost this week with no fewer than 14 players from a possible 42 having been selected to join a two-day Young Socceroos Talent ID training camp.

The Sky Blues players who currently play in either our National Premier League first team or under 20’s will spend the time under the watchful eye of Young Socceroos Head Coach and former Sydney FC Championship winner Ufuk Talay.

The aim of the two sessions is to identify further young players who could potentially play a role for the Young Socceroos in the upcoming AFC U19 Championships later this year.

“It’s a great opportunity for the boys to show what they can do in front of the national team manager,” said Sydney FC’s NPL Head Coach Rob Stanton.

“We have some excellent young players at Sydney FC and they fully deserve their opportunity to impress.

“I would be surprised if they don’t catch the eye of the Young Socceroos coaching staff.”

The camp is taking place at Sydney FC’s Macquarie University Training Ground which should be familiar surroundings for the young Sky Blues.

The AFC U19 Championship Finals tournament will take place in Indonesia in the last week of October and first week of November this year.
