Sydney FC have made history by ending Brisbane Roar-s record breaking unbeaten run of 36 games at Kogarah-s WIN Jubilee Oval.

The 2-0 win over the A-League leaders moves the Sky Blues up to third in the ladder.

Sydney couldn’t have hoped for a better start against the reigning champions. Just 36 seconds were on the clock when Dimitri Petratos, in for his first start of the season, picked the ball up just outside the penalty box. Latching onto Bruno Cazarine-s flick, the striker fired a right foot shot across Michael Theoklitos into the bottom left hand corner to give Sydney the lead.

It got even better for the Sky Blues on 19 minutes thanks to a goalkeeping error. Brett Emerton-s left wing corner caught a gust of wind and sailed towards Theoklitos- near post. Under pressure from Nicky Carle the keeper could only knock the ball onto the bar and as it came back down it struck him on the face and crept over the line.

Petratos and Carle both had further half chances to score while Henrique fired across Liam Reddy from close range as Sydney went in at the half time break with a two goal advantage – no more than they deserved.

Liam Reddy was called into action early into the second half to save a close range shot from Berisha but after that it was Sydney who did more of the pressing.

Bruno Cazarine had claims for a penalty turned down when falling under pressure from the Roar defence, while Petratos almost doubled his own tally with a shot across goal from an acute angle.

Brisbane had a couple of further efforts before the close. Berisha was denied twice by Reddy as the keeper came to the edge of his area while Franjic’s goalbound volley from 12 yards was blocked by Cole.

Sydney will look to take the confidence boosting win into their next game on Wednesday night against Perth Glory at Campbelltown Stadium.

The club are also launching 3-Game Packs today for fans to purchase as ideal Christmas presents starting from only $50. Details can be found here.
