Goalscoring hero Joel Chianese believes opposition defences must take note of his link-up with Bruno Cazarine, as the strike partnership begins to bear fruit.

Two goals from the young striker and one from the tall Brazilian secured Sydney-s passage into the Finals Series with the 3-2 win over Newcastle Jets, and Chianese believes it-s proof they are starting to click.

“I think it does take time for partnerships to gel like that,” he said.

“I-m getting more confident playing around the team and I think they-re getting more confident in me as well.”

“The partnership me and Bruno have is getting better every game we play together, so I-m just enjoying my time at the moment.”

Joel-s introduction into the first team has coincided with the club-s upturn in
fortunes and he believes they have every reason to be confident going into the Finals.

“I think we-ve had a good two months when we-ve been very consistent and playing well,” he continued.

“The team as a whole is becoming more confident and the finals are a new ball game, anyone can win, it-s just whoever performs on the day.

“We-re looking forward to playing on Friday, we are full of confidence and ready.”

Sydney FC play Wellington Phoenix in the first Elimination Final at the Westpac Stadium on Friday night. The game kicks off at 8pm in Wellington (6pm AEDT).
