Sydney FC defender Matthew Jurman has signed a new one year deal to keep him with the Sky Blues until the end of the 2014/15 Hyundai A-League season.

Jurman played 21 times for the Sky Blues last season, scoring one memorable goal against Western Sydney Wanderers, the first of his Hyundai A-League career.

“I-m delighted to be staying with the club for another season,” said the 24 year old. “I-m looking forward to working with Graham Arnold and tackling the new challenges ahead and I think we-ve a good chance of going far.

“I love playing for the club. I-m really close with all of the boys and the Members are always great towards me.

“With hard work I want to repay Graham for showing faith in re-signing me, and repay the fans through regular performances.

“I-m hungry to play more games as well. I played 21 this year, I want to build on that and as a club we want to win the Championship,” he said.

Head Coach Graham Arnold believes Jurman-s versatility is a great addition to the squad.

“Matty is a double Hyundai A-League Championship winning defender and a left footer which gives us great balance,” he said.

“I want to have two players battling for selection in every position each week and Matty will provide a lot of competition for places.

“He is very versatile across the back line which was obvious from the way he performed last season.”

Jurman was an ever present in the Sky Blues starting line-up in 2014.

The defender was part of the Sydney FC squad which lifted the 2009/2010 Hyundai A-League Premiership and Championship and won the Championship again with Brisbane Roar in 2011/12.
