Sky Blues Fixture Confirmed

Sydney FC’s Hyundai A-League 2016/17 fixture with Melbourne City will be played at ANZ Stadium on Friday 9 December (kick off 7:50pm), it has been confirmed.

The game is making the move to ANZ Stadium as the Sky Blues home ground of Allianz Stadium is unavailable due to a concert, and up until today a venue hadn’t been finalised.

It could mark Socceroo legend Tim Cahill’s first appearance as a Melbourne City player against Sydney FC with the Australian international tipped to join the Victorian club.

Sydney FC have been involved in a number of high profile and exciting games at ANZ Stadium over the years, and will also face English Premier League giants Arsenal at the ground in a blockbuster game in July next year.

Graham Arnold’s side have already faced two massive matches against English Premier League sides at the stadium including 2015 EPL Champions Chelsea, and Tottenham in front of huge crowds in June last year.

In January this year the Sky Blues welcomed back Ali Abbas after more than a year on the sidelines against Newcastle Jets, with the Iraqi International scoring the memorable winning goal only minutes after coming onto the pitch, while in October 2012 goals from Alessandro Del Piero and Brett Emerton secured a 2-1 win against Perth Glory in front of more than 25,000 Members and fans.
