Sky Blues Dominate Distribution Against Jets

Out possessed and out passed, Sydney FC exerted dominance over the Newcastle Jets at ANZ Stadium in a comfortable 2-0 win on Saturday.

The Sky Blues dominated the general play and distribution statistics as they afforded the Jets little time on the ball, having 55.3% possession to the Jets 44.7%.

Making 531 passes, for a passing accuracy of 82.5%, Sydney FC dictated the play as they shifted the ball from side to side while looking for an avenue forward.

When going forward, the Sky Blues held a passing accuracy of 79.5% as they peppered the Jets area with a total of 21 crosses, with Newcastle only registering six.

Mickael Tavares was particularly influential, with the former Hamburg midfielder completing 63 out of his 64 passes for an accuracy of 98.4%.

Tavares also completed 26 out of 26 passes going forward whilst chipping in defensively with 3 tackles and five interceptions.
