Sydney FC Head Coach Frank Farina believes the Sky Blues will have an advantage heading into Friday night-s encounter with Adelaide United at Coopers Stadium (kick off 7:00pm), as a result of their match against Brisbane the previous week.

The Roar are tactically similar to the Reds in their quick movement in midfield and possession based play and Farina feels that coming up against that type of football recently will hold the Sky Blues in good stead in South Australia tomorrow night.

“To come off the back of Brisbane that-s probably an advantage,” Farina said.

“Having played arguably the best side in the comp and against the team that tries to play similar I think it-s most probably an advantage to us.

“They-re very mobile in the midfield and up front they-ve got pace and genuine goal-scorers so it-s a similar threat.

“It-s a matter of us making sure defensively that we-re well organised and disciplined and going forward in transition is quick.”

Farina also suggested that marquee man Alessandro Del Piero will take to the field tomorrow night after the Italian missed out against the Roar through injury as the Sky Blues look to clinch a top four place with four matches remaining.

“He-s done light training this week and he trained yesterday,” said Farina.

“He-ll train this morning and travel with us and we-ll make a determination tomorrow but he looks alright.

“Last week there was no point, it was too short a week and he hadn-t trained at all but now with four massive games to go he should be ok.”

In a league as tight at the Hyundai A-League there is no certainty of finals football however with Sydney FC suffering only one defeat in their previous four visits to Adelaide, Farina is confident the Sky Blues can continue to accrue points and seal a playoff berth.

“Last year we finished with 32 and missed out on goal difference,” Farina said.

“Whether that-s enough this year most probably not. But with 4 games to go we-re in a much better position than we were this time last season.

“It-s a matter of accumulating points and let everything else sort itself out.”
