After taking three valuable points away from its physical encounter with the Melbourne Victory, Sydney FC-s Westfield W-League squad is gearing up for its next challenge on the road against Adelaide United.

The Sky Blue women successfully fought back from a goal down in their first home outing on Saturday, taking a hard-earned 2-1 win and maintaining their place on top of the league table.

Second half goals from Nicola Bolger and Leena Khamis sealed the deal, whilst a brilliant last-minute penalty save by Rachel Cooper stretched FC-s record to two from two.

Sydney FC was forced to into changes for the clash with Melbourne, with several of its young stars, and the coach away on international duty but the team adapted well, giving the players plenty of confidence ahead of the journey to Hindmarsh Stadium.

“I thought the game went well, it was very physical. The Melbourne team has some big strong girls especially at the back,” said Leena Khamis after the weekend victory. “You don-t take it lightly especially travelling down there (Adelaide). They-ve come away with a good win against Newcastle so they-re backing up and they-ll be hard to beat.”

The clash with Adelaide United will be played in the South Australian capital on Sunday, with kick off at 3pm (AEDT) at Hindmarsh Stadium.
