Sydney FC remains at the top of the Westfield W-League ladder despite suffering its first defeat of the competition, with the Sky Blue women going down 3-2 this-afternoon in a round 3 thriller against Adelaide United.
The Sky Blues went into the Hindmarsh Stadium contest without captain, Heather Garriock who was ruled out late in the week with a hip muscle complaint, but got off to a strong start with striker, Leena Khamis continuing her scoring spree after only 5 minutes.
Two first-half goals, including an own-goal from the visitors put United in the box seat, however, and they proved too strong in the end, surviving a late Sydney fight-back to take maximum points at home.
FC-s women will be looking to bounce back when they have their first outing at Campbelltown Stadium, next Saturday afternoon at 4pm against the Newcastle Jets.
