Sydney FC marquee Alessandro Del Piero says the extension to Frank Farina-s contract should drive the players onto more success when they take on Adelaide United at Allianz Stadium on Saturday.

The Head Coach has been appointed to the Sky Blues hotseat for the next two seasons this week and ADP believes it will prompt a good reaction from the team.

“Yeah it-s good news for us,” he said following Friday-s training session.

“We hope to put more energy into the games from each player and the focus is to stay in the top six.

“It-s a big game tomorrow and that-s why we have to concentrate.”

The Reds are currently one of the top four sides in the A-League and a good bet to make the A-League Finals having won 11 games this term.

However the Italian World Cup winner believes Sydney are in the right frame of mind to pull off a win.

“Adelaide have had a very good season, but we are playing at home and we are better now than one month ago,” he said.

“We hope we play even better on Saturday evening and win.”

Del Piero struck his record breaking 11th goal of the season in the club-s 2-1 win against Brisbane Roar last Sunday, overtaking John Aloisi as Sydney FC-s highest goalscorer in a single season.

“I-m happy and proud about it,” he continued. “It-s good news for me but I hope to improve from tomorrow until the end season with more goals.”

The Sky Blues will be looking for their fifth home win in a row when we take on fellow Finals contenders Adelaide United at Allianz Stadium this Saturday night (16th Feb). A win could give Sydney breathing space over their Finals Series rivals as the race gets down to the business end. We need every bit of support possible so get buying your tickets from Ticketek and help the boys push for the Finals. Adults start from $25, kick off is 5.30pm.
