After an injury interrupted few weeks the Sydney midfielder is edging closer to a starting place following two substitute appearances.
But having proposed to his long-term girlfriend Jacqui this week, it-s his love life that is making headlines.
“I know my football form is good when we-re talking about my relationship status!” he joked. “No, it was good, it-s a very special week.”
The 27 year old popped the question at the Opera House on Monday and was confident enough to invite the family along.
“I had her favourite song playing while the family were swaying back and forth to it and proposed in a sea of rose petals.
“The fact that she said yes means I-m in a good space right now!”
The newly engaged couple will be separated for the next few days with Shannon travelling with the squad to Wellington, where he-s hoping to put pressure on the starting positions.
“It-s hard, the team is in a good position at the moment and obviously missing three or four weeks is not the best for trying to earn yourself a spot.
“But it-s a team game and until I get my spot back my job is to push the other boys and make them earn their spot.”
Sydney FC play Wellington in a 2:30pm AEDT kick off on Sunday afternoon.
