Shane Smeltz is the Hyundai A-League’s second highest all-time leading goal scorer. Smeltz is a complete forward – classy on the ball, devastating in front of goal and super cool under pressure. In 2011/12 season Smeltz scored 17 goals including 2 hat-tricks, one of those against Melbourne Heart during the Finals Series. Hampered by injury in 2011/12, Smeltz still topped the Glory goal scoring charts with 7 goals in 15 matches. The New Zealand international is also a star on the world stage, having scored a goal at the 2010 FIFA World Cup against defending champions Italy and played at the 2012 London Olympic Games. Smeltz has twice been voted the Hyundai A-League’s Johnny Warren medallist as the competitions best player.
