Following a phenomenal start to the Westfield W-League 2019/20 season, Sky Blue star Remy Siemsen says she’s relishing her return to the reigning Champions.

Currently leading the Wetsfield W-League goalscoring charts, and having surpassed her goals scored from last season, Siemsen said she wasn’t anticipating the start to 2019/20 that she’s had, while crediting the Sky Blues’ culture for her goal return.

“I’m absolutely loving being back at Sydney FC,” she said.

“I love Sydney FC, I’m a massive fan of Sydney FC and always have been, so to be back in Sky Blue just feels like I’ve made the perfect decision.

“It’s my second home and I’m just really happy to be back. I’m really loving being back at the club.

“I wasn’t expecting to start the season the way I did,” she continued.

“I just wanted to do my job for the team. It’s a great team performance every week and credit to my team mates, I wouldn’t be scoring the goals that I would be without them assisting me.

“It’s been a great start and I’m absolutely loving my football.

“I think there’s such a good culture within the team. [Head Coach] Ante [Juric]’s philosophy is to play our brand of football and I think that really suits me individually and as a team.

“I’m enjoying my football and the girls have been so great, I love the group and I’m working as hard as I can for the group on the pitch. I’m just happy to be playing and scoring goals.”

Coming up against her former club on Friday night in a massive #SydneyDerby, Siemsen said the clash might be the biggest one in the league yet, as she revealed the squad were full of confidence heading into their Round 6 encounter at Bankwest Stadium.

“I think it will be [the biggest #SydneyDerby yet],” Siemsen said.

“They’ve made some great signings, some good internationals, so I think that it’ll be a massive Derby.

“You know how intense derbies are, how big they are, getting three points would be massive and I know that Ante has put emphasis on how important this game is as it could boost us up into first place depending on [Melbourne] City’s result.

“I’m very excited for the Derby. It’s always a big thing and I know the girls will step it up. I have full confidence we can get the job done.

“We want to keep the three points rolling because we want to be the Premiership winners as well as back-to-back Champions at the end of the season.”
