Ahead of Round 2 in the Westfield W-League, we caught up with Sky Blues’ midfielder Amy Harrison to get her thoughts on Saturday’s clash against Newcastle Jets and the start to W-League season 10.

Round 1 done and dusted, not the result you wanted, but what positives do you take from that game?

Yeah there’s definitely positives we can take from that game. There’s positives from the second half, we did try and fight and came back to 2-1 and got close. We know we have fight and belief in the team and we know we can take that into Newcastle this weekend.

What will you be looking to do different in Round 2?

There will be more hunger and desire. We have to want to win every little battle and we’ll be fine .

Fox Sports were calling you one of the standouts in the match, how much are you enjoying being back in the W-League following injury?

It’s awesome, I love being back. I’m really enjoying my time at Sydney FC and it’s nice to be back playing 90 minutes and playing week in week out.

On to Newcastle Jets this Saturday, looking forward to it?

Yeah definitely! It’ll be a big game, Newcastle look like a good team with Emily [van Egmond] there and pulling the strings in that team. They’ll be tough, it’s another big game in a big stadium so hopefully the girls rise to the occasion.

And the season ahead, plenty of double headers at Allianz Stadium, how enjoyable is it to play there and how pleasing is all the recognition the W-League is receiving these days?

All the girls love playing in big stadiums and Allianz is one of them and the whole ‘Fortress Allianz’ thing the boys have created, we want to try and instil that into our squad too. It’s a nice stadium and to play at home in front of your family and friends just adds that little bit extra.
