The Members were given the opportunity as part of their Premier Citizens Membership package, and watched training with complimentary drinks before sitting down for a quiz and barbecue lunch with the Sydney FC players and staff.
“It was fantastic and well worth the journey,” said Adelaide based fan Daniel Cavaiuoli. “We flew in yesterday and have been excited about it but it has blown us away.
“It-s just great to be here with Sydney FC because it does so much for the football community in Australia and for the club and the city.
“The barbecue was fantastic, the team and everyone associated with the team has been so warm and friendly, we-ve had a great time.”
The long-time Sydney FC fan has also been delighted with his Premier Citizens Membership package.
“I couldn-t suggest anything to improve it. From day one the correspondence and support has been fantastic from all members of the club.”
It was a sentiment echoed by his wife Ellie.
“It was really, really nice to come down and meet the players and I really enjoyed the day, it was lovely. I was fortunate enough to meet Del Piero as well,” she said.
Achille Pennino came with his young son Vince and described the experience as “breathtaking”.
“Being a passionate football supporter, it really ranks up there with Grand Final wins and everything else, especially getting up close with the players which was probably the highlight of the trip.
“I-m still in a bit of shock and awe!”
Eleven year old Vince added: “Last night I was so excited I couldn-t fall asleep thinking about this day.
“The food was delicious and in training I saw a few things I hadn-t seen before.”
27 of the club-s Premier Citizens were invited to the pre-Christmas event with another 32 to get the chance in March.
