Sydney FC Westfield W-League Captain Teresa Polias has paid testament to the Sky Blues faithful at Seymour Shaw in spurring Sydney FC on in their massive Westfield W-League win on Sunday against Brisbane Roar.
Taking the game to the community, Seymour Shaw was packed with over 1,500 Members and fans as Polias scored her second ever Westfield W-League goal in a moment she says even shocked herself.
“After the game the girls were like ‘great goal’ but it hasn’t set in yet,” Polias said.
“It’s just great to be able to contribute, I’d be happy for anyone to score, but for me it’s exciting. It feels good when you score.
“We love playing here [at Seymour Shaw], Polias said post-match.
“We get a really good crowd and they seem to get us over the line and give us a lot of confidence in games.
“We had a game at Manly last season, and I’m sure we’ll get a lot of people there from the Manly area on Thursday as well,” she continued, looking ahead to Thursday night’s encounter against Adelaide United.
Polias said Sunday’s performance had been coming for a number of weeks, as she said there was every possibility of mimicking last season’s undefeated run that coincides with the same stage of the season as currently.
“It was coming. It was great,” Polias said of Sunday’s performance.
“Every game we’ve played we’ve created a lot of chances and today we picked the right option in the front third and it payed off.
“We’re confident of something similar [an undefeated run].
“We can’t get too ahead of ourselves though, we can’t look too far ahead. We’ve got ourselves in a little bit of a situation, Sunday was a good response and we just need to take it game by game and do the right thing now.
“I have full confidence we’ll go on.”
