Sydney FC midfielder Terry McFlynn has said the Sky Blues have the ability beat anyone, if they play up to their potential, ahead of the Sydney Derby at Pirtek Stadium on Saturday (kick off 7:45pm).
Having never lost against the Wanderers at their home ground (one win, one draw) McFlynn is confident Sydney FC will triumph against a compact Western Sydney defensive outfit, regardless of who is selected to start.
“We-ve got a host of good players at the football club,” McFlynn said.
“It-s up to the coach to decide which is the best team for Saturday night to take to the field against the Wanderers.
“I think the Wanderers have shown they have a tight defensive unit right across the board, not just the back four but as a collective. They-re very strong defensively but we have to focus on us, we can-t look too much at them.
“We know that on our day if we-re at our best we can beat anyone.”
After missing the previous derby this season through injury McFlynn is eager to compete in front of what will be another sell-out crowd.
“As a player you want to play in front of packed stadiums every week,” McFlynn said.
“I think the crowds across the board, every club this year, have been fantastic and I think it-s great for the league.
“The boys are really looking forward to it, it-s a special occasion for the supporters more than anything, but for us it-s just another game with three points at stake.”
