The former Sky Blue who was capped 94 times for the national team revealed that he was still being kept busy outside of football but said it-s hard not seeing his team mates daily.
“It-s been a busy time, surprisingly busy, after walking away from football,” Emerton said.
“It-s hard to walk away from the game you-ve spent so long doing. I find myself still getting up and doing some training in the morning. It-s been good but it-s tough to watch the boys play as well.
“Obviously you make a lot of good friends in football and not seeing them there each and every day in the morning is a change. It-s something you need to get used to but I-m still keeping in contact with a lot of the boys and see how they-re doing and how things are.”
Emerton said he still follows Sydney FC and is confident the Sky Blues will make the finals series as he said he was pleased with the character the squad have shown in recent weeks.
“It-s good to see them pick up a few wins of late and push themselves back into the top six.
“It-s going to be an interesting run in into the finals series. I think the run in is quite favourable to us.
“There are no easy games in the A-league but I think the boys, after a tough few weeks, have bounced back and shown great character so hopefully they can continue to do that.
“I think that they-ll definitely squeeze into the top six and from there anything can happen.”
