Sydney FC are sitting comfortably in first place coming into Week Three, however there is no room for complacency as they are up against a nothing-to-lose Adelaide United team.

Adelaide are still searching for their first win after a 4-0 defeat to Perth last weekend, conceding two penalties in the first half. Perth Glory striker Sam Kerr-s speed was too much for Adelaide United keeper Sian McLaren when she took more of the player than the ball resulting in an early penalty against The Lady Reds.

From a Reds fan standpoint, this was extremely unfortunate as their team had displayed a number of encouraging build up plays in the first twenty minutes, only to be broken down by their final pass.

Donna Cockayne showcased her lightning speed down the left throughout the match, beating her marker Alex Singer on several occasions, yet failed to connect with her balls into the box.

Nobody can question the amount of effort or heart Adelaide have been playing with, however scoring an early goal might be the key to claiming their first three points.

That early goal may be hard to come by this weekend, as the Sky Blues have scored 8 goals in their last two matches and won’t be looking to take the foot off the pedal anytime soon.

Last weekend in Victoria under terrible weather conditions, the girls from Sydney beat the Victory 4-1. With both teams having to deal with the torrential downpour of rain and mass of puddles on the pitch, Sydney still managed to put four goals away against the very competitive Melbourne Victory.

The star of the show was Westfield Matildas striker Kyah Simon, notching two goals after missing a penalty earlier on. Westfield Matilda keeper Melissa Barbieri was set the impossible task in saving Simon-s world class strike into the upper 90º, which was to be Sydney-s first goal of the night.

So don’t miss this clash between the destructively in-form Sydney FC team and the desperate and determined Lady Reds!
