Ninkovic’s First Words – I Want To Win The Title

For Sydney FC new boy Milos Ninkovic there was little time to settle in as the former Serbian international took part in his first training session on Thursday, just over 24 hours after landing in the country.

Ninkovic was put through his paces by Head of Strength and Conditioning Andrew Clark, along with Terry Antonis, Mickael Tavares, George Blackwood and Ali Abbas and the Sky Blues new midfielder has vowed he wants to take home a winners medal as he looks to adapt quickly to his new surroundings.

“Yesterday I arrived, I can’t really get a grasp on how I’ve adapted yet,” he said. “I met a couple of the staff at the airport and slowly we’ll see what happens. It was the first training session back, I’ll need a couple more training sessions to get into the flow of things and we will see how I go from there.

“I understand that Sydney FC have not won a title for a couple of years and I want to come and achieve that for Sydney FC with my style of play.

“I want to win the title and try and achieve something in the Asian Champions League.”

Ninkovic said he consulted compatriots Milos Dimitrijevic and Nikola Petkovic ahead of his move to the Harbour City and he said the Serbian duo spoke glowingly of the Sky Blues as they helped convince him to join Head Coach Graham Arnold.

“Milos Dimitrijevic and Nikola Petkovic have told me about the club,” he said.

“I know about Alessandro Del Piero and how great the atmosphere is. I’m looking forward to this season. “I can’t say what the fans can expect of me yet. I will let my football do the talking.”

Ninkovic will meet his new teammates today before departing with the squad on Sunday for the Sky Blues week-long training camp on the Gold Coast.
