Ninkovic Eyeing Ruthless Streak

Sydney FC star Milos Ninkovic has called for himself and his squad to be more ruthless in front of goal with the business end of the Hyundai A-League 2018/19 well underway.

Ninkovic expressed his frustration at not finding the net, however he said he’s confident of finding that scoring touch as the Sky Blues approach the Finals Series and with the race for the Premiers Plate going down to the wire.

“If you look at the games, how we play, we do well,” Ninkovic said.

“Even on Sunday, first half we did well, we kept the ball and created some chances but couldn’t score a goal.

“We need to be more ruthless in front of goal. It’s not up to the Coach it’s about the players, we played well but can’t score a goal. The coach can’t come on the pitch and score goals.

“If you look at the last three years every shot on goal was basically a goal,” he continued.

“Sometimes this happens in football, it happens to the strikers that they can’t score, I hope that when the playoffs start, we will be more relaxed in front of goal.”

Ninkovic welcomed the arrival of the international break, saying the week off had come at the perfect time and would pay dividends for the Sky Blues following their recent hectic schedule.

“We need to work hard every day and now we have a break it’s good for us because we don’t have a game next week,” Ninkovic said.

“That will be good for us to freshen up and be ready for the next game against Brisbane.

“For everyone it’s hard, it doesn’t matter if you’re 34 or 25. Especially with the travel, it’s not a big deal if you play every three days, in Europe they do the same, but the travel is a bit hard.

“After three games and a trip in the last six days we need to work hard now we have a week off.”
